"Babylon: The Great City" ist eine reich illustrierte Einführung zu den deutschen und den irakischen Ausgrabungen in Babylon. Sowohl die archäologischen als auch die inschriftlichen Funde sind für die Darstellung umfassend berücksichtigt worden. Das Buch gründet auf der Arbeit vieler Jahre an Ausgrabungen und auf dem Studium der Funde und der Ausgrabungsdokumentation sowie auf zahlreichen Inspektionen der noch erhaltenen Ruinen und Rekonstruktionen. Ein digitales Modell der Stadt diente der Analyse, der Überprüfung der Interpretationen und der Unterstützung des Verständnisses des Ortes. Das Buch kann sowohl als wissenschaftliche Studie des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe-Ortes als auch als Reiseführer für Besuche in Babylon verwendet werden.
