Ancient Jaffa from the Persian to the Byzantine Period

Die von Orit Tsuf vorgelegte Studie ist ein bedeutender Baustein in der Publikation der Ausgrabungen Jacob Kaplans and Haya Ritter-Kaplans in Jaffa und der Nekropole von Abu Kabir, die zwischen 1955 und 1974 stattfanden. Teil 1 ist den Ausgrabungen selbst gewidmet, u.a. “Sounding X” mit Architektur von persischer bis byzantinischer Zeit., der Residenz in Area C, der Agora von Jaffa, dem Historischen Zentrum (Tel Yaffo) und Gräber aus hellenistische bis byzantinischer Zeit. Teil 2 nimmt die ausgegrabenen Objekte in den Blick. Im Zentrum der Studie steht die vollständig illustrierte Keramik-Sammlung mit 1.200 Gefäßen und Fragmenten von der Eisenzeit bis zur byzantinischen Zeit. Weitere Kapitel präsentieren Glasgefäße, Steingefäße und metallene Funde.
